The Red Eagles ended the year with a 1-1 draw against Future FC at Al Ahly We Al Salam Stadium on Sunday night in the Egyptian League.
An early goal from Mohamed Sherif was canceled out by a goal from Karim Nedved, Al Ahly’s loanee to Future FC, in the second half.
Despite the draw, we are heading to the international break atop of the league table with 19 points after seven matches.
After fantastic work from Ahmed Abdelkader, our winger sent a ground pass, feeding Sherif who put the ball in the top corner.
We dominated the majority of the first half, having the possession and creating chances to double the score with the opponent focusing on quick counter-attacks. Mohamed El Shenawy was handed a yellow card after a late challenge against Future’s striker.
In the second half, Mosimane made a change in his team as Ramy Rabia joined the pitch instead of Luís Miquissone.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Future’s Ahmed Atef escaped Al Ahly’s markers and raced down to the box, sending an accurate cross to Karim Nedved, who leveled the score.
We continued to press forward and our manager used his bench with four attacking substitutions as Ali Maaloul, Taher Mohamed Taher, Hussein El Shahat and Ammar Hamdy joined the game, boosting our attacking power.
We faced a compact defense from Future FC, which forced our players to focus on crosses from both sides but their defenders stood their ground.
The minutes went by and the referee blew his final whistle, announcing a 1-1 draw.
